Corrective Pilates in San Francisco
Your body keeps score of how you move, sit, and recover. When something is out of balance, whether it’s low back pain, a stiff neck from a desk, or a shoulder that never quite healed, the problem usually isn’t one muscle. It’s the whole chain of movement working against you.
Corrective Pilates at The Center Studio starts there. Larry Hall, founder of The Center Studio since 2002, designs each program around the individual body in front of him, not a standard routine.
How it works
Every corrective program begins with an assessment. Larry looks at how you stand, move, and breathe, then identifies the patterns behind your discomfort. From there, he builds a progression that works the whole body: strengthening what’s weak, mobilizing what’s stiff, and teaching you to move with control.
The method is grounded in the neutral pelvis, the six principles of Pilates (breath, balance, concentration, control, efficiency, and flow), and years of teaching experience. Nothing is done for the sake of looking impressive. Each exercise has a purpose, and you’ll understand what it is.
Who it’s for
- People with back, neck, hip, or shoulder pain
- Anyone working on posture or movement habits
- Clients returning to exercise after an injury or surgery, with their physician’s or physical therapist’s guidance
- People who want to move with more confidence in daily life
What to expect
Sessions are private and tailored to you. Your program evolves as you do, and you’ll leave each session with a clear sense of what to practice before the next one. Larry works with you to set short-term and long-term goals so progress is measurable.
Working with your care team
Corrective Pilates is not a substitute for medical treatment. When appropriate, Larry works alongside your physician, physical therapist, or other health provider. If you have a diagnosed condition or are recovering from surgery, please share your medical history before your first session.
