Anatomy With Clay

The Center Studio, is excited to announce the Anatomy with Clay workshop taught by Karen Klippinger Postponed till spring 2010

This workshop is designed to deepen your knowledge of the anatomy of major joints of the body to aid your teaching and help prepare you for certifications exams. This creative course will focus on building muscles on manikens® (user of Anatomy in ClayTM) to aid in developing a 3-D and kinesthetic appreciation of key human musculature. This anatomical perspective will then be applied to selected Pilates and other strength/flexibility exercises to help you understand their purpose. Friday will focus on the lower extremity, emphasizing the hip and knee. Saturday will focus on the trunk, emphasizing the abdominals and back extensors. Sunday will focus on the shoulder complex.

Karen Clippinger is a professor at California State University, Long Beach, faculty for Body Arts and Science International, and renowned international presenter. Her Masters in Exercise Science, training as a dancer, 22 years of work as a clinical kinesiology, 15 years experience teaching Pilates, and extensive academic teaching provide her with a unique expertise that allows her to blend theory and practice in an extremely valuable manner. Her background also allows her to bring information to a varied audience including students, instructors, and medical professionals. Ms. Clippinger has given over 375 presentations related to kinesiological considerations in Pilates, Dance and Fitness. She has also written numerous articles, several chapters, and an acclaimed textbook.
