Machu Picchu Peru Trip & Pilates Program 13D 12N
August 20th Arrival to Lima
We will arrive at Lima airport and you will be transferred to your hotel in Lima. Rest of the day at leisure (flights usually arrive late at night in Lima it is the reason why we do not program any tour this day)
August 21st Flight Lima – Cuzco - Sacred Valley (B,D)
We will pick you up in your hotel in Lima and then transfer you to the Lima airport to take your flight to Cusco. Flight to Cusco operated by Lan airline is included in the trip. Upon arrival in Cuzco You will be met by your tour coordinator who will take you from the Cusco airport to your hotel in the Sacred Valley, Along the way we will have an stop at the Awanacancha house a place where we will see many South American camelids such as alpacas, vicuñas and lamas and where you can also buy very fine stuff. It is important to tell you that the reason why we take you straight to the valley it is because the sacred valley is located 3 thousand feet lower than Cusco which is a great way to get acclimatized to the altitude and avoid altitude sickness. We recommend taking it easy during the first day and relaxing in your Hotel at the sacred valley. At night special welcome dinner at the 3 Keros restaurant.
August 22nd Sacred Valley Pilates Program.(B)
With Larry: Practical application of Pilates: This is an open discussion on how you can use your Pilates Breathing and Execises to acclimate to the altitude (you will find that taking full breaths is difficult) as well as using your exercises to warm up and cool down during your activities. Included in the session will be a ½ hour class as we will want to take it easy on the first full day at this altitude.
*Please note that this is not just for instructors – the discussion is designed for everyone. Props may be use, please bring your walking stick, if other props are going to be used they will be provided.
August 23th Peruvian Paso Horse back riding & Pilates outdoors (B,L)
During the morning we will enjoy of a Peruvian Paso adventure going by the villages and lands of the sacred valley that are not accessible by car, giving us the opportunity to see Peru behind the scenes. The Peruvian Paso horses are great very smooth horses good for everyone from beginners to experts; this is a 2 hour slow pass tour enjoying the landscape. We will finish our adventure in a restaurant where we will have lunch and then we will go back to our hotel. During the afternoon Pilates session 2 with Larry, a Pilates Class which applys the practical applications discussed.
August 24th Maras Moray excursion and Mother Earth Ceremony. (B,L)
Pick up from your hotel at 9 am and then we will go with our private van and tour guide to the picturesque town of Maras, a very unique town and one of the only ones that still conserve a lot of the old traditions, people where the typical dress’ of the area and the houses look the same as 400 years ago, after visiting this town we will go to the circulate terraces of Moray where one of our Inkan shamans will show us a ritual to the mother earth, August is the month of the mother earth so we as locals enjoy giving something back to the earth for all what she give us and practicing the Incan tradition of the reciprocity. After our ritual we will have a picnic lunch with a great view of the snow coped mountains of the andes and then we will visit the salt terraces of Maras, Finally we will be transferred back to our hotel in the Sacred Valley.
August 25th Pisaq & Ollantaytambo Villages.(B,L)
Today your guide and your private van will pick you up in your hotel to take you to visit the most important two archeological Incan sites and the most typical towns in the Sacred Valley. During the morning we will visit the town of Ollantaytambo and the archeological complex with the same name. And after lunch we will visit the archeological site of Pisaq and the native Market of Pisaq.
August 26th Inka Trail to Machu Picchu. (B,L,D)
At 8:30 am we will pick you up from your hotel in the Sacred Valley and transfer you to the Km 82 where we start our trekking passing by Andean villages and archeological sites, the itinerary for today is Km 82 - lunch at Patallacta and overnight at Huallabamba. Camping.
August 27th Inka Trail to Machu Picchu. (B,L,D)
This day we continue our adventure from Huallabemba to Warmi Huañusca which is the highest altitude of the whole inka trail (13800 feet) after passing Warmi Huanusca we will descent two thousand feet trough the cloud forest and get to Pacaymayo where we will camp.
August 28th Inka Trail to Machu Picchu. (B,L,D)
Today we will pass by different archeological inkan sites and compressional views, the start of the day is up the hill to 12800 feet and then is all downhill by a long inka stairway. Tonight our campsite is Winay Wayna located at 11900 feet.
August 29th Inka Trail and Machu Picchu visit. (B,L,D)
Very early morning we start the 1. 5 hour walk up to the gate of the sun Inti Punku from where we can see the sunrise over Machu Picchu, from there we walk 40 more minutes and we arrive to the Machu Picchu ruins, were we will have a short first visit, and then we will get to our Hotel, to leave our things, take shower after 4 days of hiking and have some rest, after lunch we will go back to visit Machu Picchu in the afternoon time when it is free of the tourist crowds, so we will enjoy more of this wonder of the world and our expert tour guide will give us here a guided tour around all the complex.
August 30th Train Machu Picchu – Cusco (B,D)
Morning at leisure, optional climbing to the Putukusi Mountain or Waynapicchu Mountain for a last view of Machu Picchu, and around noon train to Ollantaytambo and from Ollantaytambo private transfer to your hotel In Cusco city. Rest of the day at leisure, At night special dinner with typical Peruvian show.
August 31st Cusco City tour.(B,D)
During the morning Tour of Cusco City where you will get to know the main temple of the Inka empire, the archeological site of Sacayhuaman, the Cusco Cathedral built in 1535 and the San Pedro local market. Goodbye dinner at the Monasterio 5* Hotel.
September 1st Flight Cusco – Lima – your destination or take one of our extensions (B)
Transfer from your hotel to Cusco airport, flight Cusco – Lima and connection with your international flight.
